The Education Foundation of the CCIM Institute has been granting scholarships to deserving students and real estate professionals since 1988. Our scholarship programs are designed to encourage and assist professionals pursuing the CCIM designation and to promote high educational standards. Our programs enable exemplary professionals in the real estate industry to experience the CCIM Institute's education first hand.
The CCIM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Mission of the CCIM Foundation is to advance and foster commercial real estate education through scholarships, programs and initiatives.
CCIM SAN DIEGO CHAPTER'S SCHOLARSHIPS
James and Berta Darr CCIM Scholarship
Established 2004
James Darr, CCIM, of San Diego, California, was involved with commercial real estate for 50 years until his passing in 2015. He was instrumental in establishing the San Diego CCIM Chapter, as well as the Commercial Investment Real Estate Association (CIREA), which was the predecessor to the CCIM Institute. James was an instructor for both CIREA and the original San Diego Exchange Group. Over the years, he provided valuable support to the San Diego CCIM Chapter and was a life member of the chapter and the CCIM Institute.
San Diego Future Leaders in Real Estate - CCIM Scholarship
Established 2025
The San Diego Future Leaders in Real Estate – CCIM Scholarship was established in 2025 and funded through generous donations and proceeds from the CCIM San Diego Chapter’s first annual 9-hole golf tournament. The driving force behind this fundraising effort was 2024–2025 Chapter President Libby Brignon, CCIM, who has worked tirelessly to strengthen the CCIM San Diego Chapter and expand opportunities for CCIM education.
Scholarship Value: $1,000
Scholarship Used Toward: CCIM Core Course CI 101, CI 102, CI 103, or CI 104
SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION CRITERIA
▪ Each applicant should be able to demonstrate a commitment to their commercial real estate career.
▪ Each applicant should be able to demonstrate active involvement as a member in good standing with the Southern California CCIM Chapter.
▪ The recipient of this scholarship must demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
SCHOLARSHIP VALUE
The recipient will receive a maximum of $1,000.00 (“Award”) to reimburse the cost of one of the CCIM designation courses: CI 102, CI 103 or CI 104. Such Award shall be payable upon receipt of evidence of the recipient’s passing course grade. The recipient will be responsible for any costs/fees beyond $1,000.00, if applicable.

Current CCIM Institute members are eligible to register for courses at a discounted rate. In addition, students may save on tuition through the following programs:
- Veterans in Real Estate Program - CCIM Institute education trains you in financial analysis, market analysis, and negotiation to give you an edge as you enter the commercial real estate industry. As a U.S. military veteran, you may be eligible to receive funding for CCIM courses through the Post-9/11 or G.I. Bill®.
